Lahore: It has been decided to enforce Section 144 across Punjab to maintain peace during Muharram.

Section 144 will be enforced from 1st to 10th Muharram. Pillion riding on motorcycles will be banned on 9th and 10th Muharram.

The Punjab government has decided to impose Section 144 across the province in view of security during Muharram.

There will be a ban on displaying all types of weapons and flammable materials in public places without the permission of the competent authority.

A complete ban has also been imposed on provocative slogans and gestures that inflame public sentiments, beliefs and sects.

Statements and comments that incite sectarian or racial hatred through any means or device will also be banned.

Construction of trench on the roofs of houses or other buildings located on the procession routes will not be allowed.

A ban has been imposed on collecting stones, bricks, bottles or garbage on the roofs of buildings located on the procession routes.

A ban has also been imposed on the presence of spectators on the roofs of buildings or shop windows located on the route during the procession.

Pillion riding will be banned except for senior citizens, women and law enforcement officials.

All restrictions except pillion riding will be applicable from 1st to 10th Muharram.

While the ban on pillion riding will be applicable on 9th and 10th Muharram.

The Punjab Home Department has issued orders to implement Section 144
