Rawalpindi: Security forces on Friday successfully foiled a terrorist attack on a check post in South Waziristan District, killing all four attackers, including a suicide bomber, and destroying an explosive-laden vehicle, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to the military's media wing, terrorists belonging to the Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khwarij attempted to target the security forces' check post.

The ISPR said the attackers sought to breach the security of the check post, but their attempt was decisively thwarted by the vigilant and prompt response of security personnel.

The explosive-laden vehicle driven by the suicide bomber was successfully engaged and destroyed outside the perimeter of the check post, killing the suicide attacker before it could inflict any damage.

The remaining three terrorists fled into a nearby compound, where security forces launched a deliberate clearance operation and neutralized all of them with precision.

The ISPR said no casualties were suffered by security forces during the operation.

A sanitization operation is under way to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorists present in the area.

The military reiterated that the security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue the nationwide counter-terrorism campaign under the "Azm-e-Istehkam" vision, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
