Islamabad: Senate has approved The Newspaper Employees (Conditions of Service) (Amendment) Bill, 2026 with majority vote.

The bill was presented by minister for parliamentary affairs Tariq Chaudhry during Senate session on Thursday.

This bill is aimed at making more secure the rights of employees working in news papers and news agencies, adopting conditions of service in line with modern requirements and improving the system of salaries, service conditions , pensions and other benefits.

Section 2 and other sections have been amended in the bill. Giving proper powers to respective division or authorities instead of federal government and its implementation will be made effective.

While presenting bill Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said this amendment is must to ensure protection of rights of media workers and stability of industry.

The house passed bill after brief discussion.

This bill will now be sent to president for approval and after approval of the president, it will stand implemented.
