Islamabad: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, while paying tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on her 18th death anniversary, said that all beneficiaries and staff of BISP pay homage to Shaheed Mohtarma, who made eternal sacrifices for democracy, public rights, and social justice in Pakistan.

In this connection, a Quran recitation was organized today at BISP Headquarters by the employees on the death anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, during which special prayers were offered for her eternal reward and elevation of ranks.

Senator Rubina Khalid said that the core of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto's politics was always the downtrodden and deprived segments of society. Throughout her life, she struggled as a voice for the poor, the weak, and the marginalized. In continuation of this vision, the Benazir Income Support Programme is today playing a pivotal role in making more than 10 million women economically independent across the country.

She stated that BISP has emerged as the world's largest social protection programme for women's economic empowerment and digital and financial inclusion, and is internationally recognized for its transparency and effective systems. Under the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma, the Benazir Hunarmand Programme has also been launched to improve the lives of deserving individuals by providing them with dignified employment opportunities.

The Chairperson BISP said that today she wishes to convey a message to all women associated with the Benazir Income Support Programme: to be courageous like Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, to raise their voices for their rights, and to stand firm against all forms of injustice.

Senator Rubina Khalid reiterated her commitment that BISP will continue its efforts to make people's lives easier, empower women, and further strengthen the social protection system, guided by the life, struggle, and vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
