Seven killed in landslide in Kohat district

Kohat: At least seven people were killed and one was injured on Wednesday when a landslide struck Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Kohat district, rescue officials said.

The rescuers have recovered the bodies of all seven people during the rescue operation. One injured person, Riaz Ali Khan alias Good, son of Aitbar Khan, is being provided with medical assistance at the site.

According to Rescue 1122, the deceased have been identified as: Talat son of Wakeel, FC personnel Fayaz son of Riaz, Abid son of Parvez, Daniyal son of Zafar Ali, Sabir son of Iqbal, and Faraz son of Farzand Ali and Faizan son of Haji Rehman.

The landslide occurred in the Qamar Killi area on the outskirts of Tehsil Gambat, according to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi.

Rescue 1122 teams were dispatched to the site soon after the incident and began efforts to reach those buried under the rubble. Three people were pulled out initially, including one person who was already dead and two others who were injured, the spokesperson said. The two injured victims later died from their injuries.
