Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) while ordering DIG Investigation to appear in person on the petition pertaining to recovery of missing persons has sought from defence secretary details of the citizens imprisoned in detention centers across the country.A two members bench of SHC presided over by Justice Naimat Ullah Phulpoto took up the petitions for hearing Wednesday.The state counsel took the plea the enforced disappearance of missing citizens Ismail, Idrees and others have been determined. Summary has been approved for providing financial assistance to the family members.Justice Naimat Ullah Phulpoto remarked what steps were taken after last hearing.The investigating officer told the court letters have been written to Edhi, Cheepa and other welfare institutions. The missing citizens are not with any welfare institution. Reply has not been received from CPLC and some law enforcement agencies.The court expressed displeasure over not taking effective steps for recovery of Umar Siddiqui w ho is missing since 2018.Justice Naimat Ullah Phulpoto remarked cases for recovery of several missing persons are pending hearing in SHC. Despite meetings of several JITs and task force , the missing persons could not be traced.Secretary defence should file personal affidavit in the event of non filing the report.The court while summoning DG Investigation in personal capacity sought from defence secretary details of citizens detained in detention centers all over the country.The court sought reports from police and other institutions within 4 weeks.
