Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) while ordering to ensure effective implementation of law against wall chalking, illegal posters and banners in all over Sindh province has directed all local bodies and union councils to remove immediately illegal banners, posters and wall chalking from their respective areas.The court has sought report from chief secretary Sindh regarding implementation of law and establishment of Anti Defacement Task Force.The petition regarding implementation of law related to ban on wall chalking and illegal posters in Sindh province came up for hearing.The petitioner Tariq Masood advocate took the plea Prevention of Defacement of Property Act 2013 is in place against illegal posters and defacing the walls . But it is not being implemented effectively.According to the petitioner sentence upto 6 months and fine of Rs 5000 can be awarded for defacing any property under this law. In the event of continuity of offence additional fine of Rs 1000 daily can be imposed.He told the court the owner or occupant of the property is allowed only to display information or board regarding his personal business.The court while ordering to remove wall chalking and illegal posters immediately remarked non implementation of law affects the basic right of the citizens regarding better life and clean environment.The state counsel sought time for presenting report by chief secretary Sindh.The court sought detailed report on implementation of law and establishment of Anti Defacement Task Force from chief secretary SindhThe court directed all local bodies and local councils to ensure immediate removal of illegal banners , posters and wall chalking from their areas.The court adjourned the hearing of the case for further two weeks.
