SHC stops from arresting former president Arif Alvi , his family members

Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) has restrained government institutions from arresting former president Arif Alvi and his family members under blasphemy charges with reference to investigation by National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) besides seeking report from the respondents till October 21.NCCIA had launched investigation against former president and his 12 family members.Arif Alvi had resorted to court against it.The petition said that bank accounts of former president Arif Alvi and his family members were blocked .The investigation officer told the court NCCIA is investigating with regard to charges of blasphemy against the petitioner. The petitioner did not appear for investigation despite issuance of notice.Counsel for the petitioner told the allegation of blasphemy leveled against his client is false. NCCIA is not authorized to block bank accounts of any one. Allegation is against one person and bank accounts have been blocked of all family members.The court while ordering not to take into custody former president Arif Alvi, his son Adab Alvi and others has directed former president and his entire family to appear before NCCIA.
