Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) has suspended Karachi university decision on cancellation of degree of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri of Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The court has suspended Karachi university decision on petition filed against revocation of degree of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.

The court also restrained from initiating any further proceedings in regard to recommendations of Syndicate and Unfair means committee of Karachi university.

A division bench of SHC comprising Justice Iqbal Kalhoro and Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi heard the case.

Registrar Karachi university Professor Imran Siddiqui took the plea he has recently received notice, therefore, time be given to file reply.

Barrister Salah ud Din counsel for the petitioner said time can be given to the respondents for filing reply but decision of Karachi university be suspended till then so that no harm is caused to his client.

During the hearing of the case justice Iqbal Kalhoro remarked this is matter of whole life livelihood of a person. Therefore, the court will have to give decision with utmost care. If any petition has been filed after 35 years then the aggrieved party must be summoned. Any decision which is made without hearing the respondents is weak legally.

Justice Iqbal Kalhoro further remarked may be action has been taken against the petitioner on personal basis. While exparte judgment is never considered good.

The court also made it clear if Karachi university has not given notice to the petitioner on this matter then this decision does not meet the norms of justice.

Registrar Karachi university told the court his appointment is new therefore, he is not fully aware of this matter.

The court remarked if you have come to court then it is must to give reply.

The court while giving time to the respondents to file reply adjourned the hearing of the case till November 20.
