Mannanwala:The District Bar Association Sheikhupura has announced a complete strike and boycott of court proceedings on Tuesday, October 13, in protest against the imposition of emergency and governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the bar's executive committee chaired by President Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmed Warraich, Advocate High Court. All members of the executive committee attended the meeting and condemned the government's move.

In a joint statement, bar office-bearers said that, in their view, curtailing the powers of an elected democratic government was contrary to constitutional principles and human rights.

Bar President Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmed Warraich said a general house meeting would be convened to determine the future course of action.

He added that further protests, including a sit-in and rally against what the bar termed an unconstitutional and illegal decision, would also be considered.
