Abbottabad: A passenger van fell into 1000 feet deep ravine, killing six people including a father and son in Abbottabad's Bairan Gali area on Saturday. The killed passengers include Maria D/O Umar age 25 years, Fatima D/O Umar age 33/34 years, Zulfiqar alias Pappu S/O Hussain age 45 years, Zubair S/O Zulfiqar age 23 years, Yasir S/O Khalil age 38 years and Akthar age 35 years.
According to rescue officials, all six people travelling on the van died on the spot, including two sisters who were on their way to take an exam.
Authorities said the van was travelling from Bairan Gali to Abbottabad when it went out of control and plunged into the ravine. Rescue teams rushed to the site as soon as they received the report.
According to initial information, brake failure is believed to be the cause of the accident. The depth of the ravine made the recovery of the bodies extremely difficult.
