Thatta: At least six workers of Jamaaat-e-Islami Karachi were killed and 30 others were injured when their bus was overturned near Makli in Thatta on Sunday. The workers of JI Karachi Orangi Town were going for picnic in Keenjhar Lake.JI General Secretary Karachi Taufiquddin Siddiqui reached hospital along with JI workers and got shifted the injured and dead bodies of martyred workers to Karachi. The accident occurred due to rain near dargah Muhammad Ali Peer near Makli in Thatta. Killed workers of JI include Assadullah, Arbab, Muhammad Rauf, Bashir, Ahsanullah and Abrar Ali.The rescue teams reached the accident site and started the rescue activities. First the injured were shifted to the Makli hospital then the critically wounded persons were shifted to Karachi.Separately, a passenger bus travelling from Karachi to Mansehra overturned on the National Highway in Khairpur near Tando Masti area, killing three people and wounding over 25 others.The police have said that injured people and bodies have be en shifted to the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Hospital. The accident occurred due to speeding in heavy rain, the police added.Passenger bus accidents on highways across Pakistan are not uncommon and occur due to various reasons, ranging from drivers' negligence to overspeeding and road and weather conditions.
