Islamabad: Speaker Ayyaz Sadiq has announced to make Mehmood Khan Achakzai as opposition leader of National Assembly (NA).

Notification about appointment of Mehmood Khan Achakzai as opposition leader has been issued.

Notification regarding appointment of the opposition leader has been handed over to the opposition members.

Speaker Ayyaz Sadiq handed over the notification to opposition members in his chamber.

January 16 is recorded on the notification regarding appointment of opposition leader.

Opposition leader has been appointed under rules of business 39.

While talking after his meeting with Speaker National Assembly Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar said Mehmood Achakzai was consensus candidate . Today notification has been issued. The office of the opposition leader was lying vacant since August 07. We had registered case against removing opposition leader.

Barrister Gohar further said this is new beginning. All opposition parties have expressed confidence on Mehmood Khan Achakzai. I will request Senate Chairman he should also issue notification. The post of opposition leader is vacant in Senate too since August 8.

Separating from standing committees was a separate issue. This was a political decision. Standing committees are a separate issue and appointment of opposition leader is separate issue.
