Lahore: Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye, Professor Dr. Numan Kurtulmus, and Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, Madame Sahiba Gafarova, visited the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal on Tuesday to pay tribute to Pakistan's national poet.Upon their arrival, a contingent of the Rangers presented them with a salute. The distinguished guests laid wreaths and offered fateha at the mausoleum, honoring the legacy of the renowned philosopher-poet whose ideas inspired the Pakistan Movement. They also penned their reflections and sentiments in the visitors' book, acknowledging Iqbal's enduring contributions to the Muslim world.The delegation also visited the historic Badshahi Mosque, where officials from the Walled City of Lahore Authority guided them through the mosque's architectural grandeur and cultural significance. The guests were briefed on the mosque's rich history and its place as a symbol of Islamic heritage in South Asia.Earlier in the day, Speaker Punjab Assembly, Malik M uhammad Ahmad Khan, warmly received the visiting dignitaries at Lahore Airport. He presented bouquets to welcome them on behalf of the Provincial Assembly.The speaker emphasised that the visit underscores the deep-rooted cultural and historical ties between Pakistan, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan, along with their shared reverence for figures who have shaped the intellectual and spiritual landscape of the Muslim world.Meanwhile a delegation from the Republic of Trkiye and the Republic of Azerbaijan, led by Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Trkiye, and Madame Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, called on Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif.The discussion centered on strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing regional cooperation, and promoting mutual goals of peace, progress, and prosperity.The visit follows the participation of the delegations of Trkiye and Azerbaijan in the Third Trilateral Speakers' Meeting of the Parliaments of Pakistan, Trkiye, a nd Azerbaijan, hosted by the National Assembly of Pakistan on 13th October 2025.
