Islamabad: State minister and special assistant to Prime Minister Huzaifa Rehman has tendered apology to Election Commission (EC) for violating election code of conduct.

The commission directed him to file written apology.

A five members bench of EC including Chief Election Commissioner ( CEC) took up the matter of violation of election code of conduct for hearing on Monday.

State minister Huzaifa Rehman appeared before the EC saying I tender unconditional apology to the EC.

He said " I had gone to a musical concert and I had not participated in the campaign. I have differences with the respective candidate. I have not participated in the election campaign for the respective candidate.

He held I have appeared myself in reverence of Election Commission. I don't want violation of law and constitution.

The EC directed Huzaifa Rehman to file reply.
