Stop the tanker system in Karachi, supply the water to the people through pipelines: SHC orders


Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) Constitutional bench while expressing resentment over Karachi Water Corporation (KWC) authorities has remarked mayor had said water will be supplied through lines.



A petition in connection with non supply of water to a citizen in his home came up for hearing in the court .



During the hearing of the case the court questioned from superintendent KWC why the water is not being supplied to the people. Water be supplied to the people in their homes .



Counsel for KWC said lines are old and there is electricity load shedding too.



Justice Adnan Karim remarked construct the pipelines. Spend some money on the people too.



Superintendent KWC said water is being supplied less to us.



Justice Adnan Karim Memon questioned then tankers owners get water from where. Tankers walas are supplying water to entire Karachi.



When water is being provided through tankers then why not from the lines. It means water is available but it is not being supplied through lines.



Superintendent KWC said Tankers walas get water through illegal hydrates.



The court remarked be it legal or illegal. Water should he supplied to the citizens in their homes. Suspend the tanker system. Supply the water to people through lines. We will give a stern decision on this petition.
