Stronger coordination among departments would help ensure the effective use of available resources: Senator Rubina Khalid

Peshawar: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme Senator Rubina Khalid met with Lieutenant (Retd) Islam Zeb, Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in Peshawar on Friday. The meeting discussed coordination between BISP and provincial departments, sharing of NSER data, skills training for children from BISP beneficiary households under the Benazir Hunarmand Programme and the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, among other matters.

Senator Rubina Khalid said that sharing relevant data with provincial departments would help improve the identification of eligible people and ensure that programme benefits reach the right beneficiaries. She also highlighted that stronger coordination among departments would help ensure the effective use of available resources.

The meeting agreed to strengthen coordination between BISP and provincial departments, use data to better identify and reach eligible beneficiaries, and work together on various social protection and human development initiatives.

Later, the Senator Rubina Khalid also met with KP Minister for Health Khaliqur Rehman and Secretary Health Fayyaz Ali Shah in Peshawar. The meeting focused on the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, maternal and child health and nutrition and the issue of stunting among children.

Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized the importance of stronger coordination and joint efforts between BISP and the Health Department to improve maternal and child health and nutrition outcomes.

The Provincial Minister for Health and Secretary Health assured continued cooperation with BISP for the effective implementation of the Benazir Nashonuma Programme and for improving the health and nutritional well-being of mothers and children.

BISP Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Alf Jan Afridi, was also present on the occasion.
