Supdt Adiala jail files report in IHC refuting the allegations on keeping Bushra Bibi in solitary confinement

Islamabad: Superintendent Adiala Jail has filed a report in Islamabad High Court (IHC) wherein he has refuted the allegations for keeping Bushra Bibi in solitary confinement taking the plea facilities and rights are being provided to her in jail like other prisoners as per law

No one including Bushra Bibi has been kept in solitary confinement in jail.

Jail authorities have said the system of solitary confinement has ended in jails and courts too are not awarding such sentence since long.

Superintendent told the court additional arrangements have been made in view of the security of Bushra Bibi being the wife of former Prime Minister. However no discriminatory treatment is being given to her.

According to jail authorities women officers and women subordinate staff monitor Bushra Bibi. They take care of things of her daily requirement . Lady medical officer conducts her medical check up at least two times daily. Special medical facility is provided when needed.

It has been said in the report the facilities of natural light, fresh air and secrecy as per jail manual are available to her.

As per report Bushra Bibi is allowed to have meeting with her husband PTI founder on every Tuesday. The venue of her detention has been declared safe and peaceful.

Superintendent jail took the plea in his report that the objections regarding keeping Bushra Bibi in solitary confinement are based on presumptions rather than facts.

He requested the court to reject the petition filed in this regard.
