Islamabad: Former Federal Minister and senior politician Muhammad Ali Durrani met with the Acting Ambassador of Tajikistan, Saidjon Shafiev, on Wednesday to explore ways of strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

'Friendly relations between Pakistan and nations committed to peace and progress can transform the region into a hub of economic development,' said Muhammad Ali Durrani during the meeting.

In a symbolic gesture of affection, the Tajik envoy warmly embraced Durrani twice.

'There is a heartfelt connection between Tajikistan and Pakistan. We truly love Pakistan-this is why I embraced you twice,' Shafiev remarked while welcoming Durrani.

Durrani extended good wishes on behalf of the people of Pakistan to Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and the people of Tajikistan.

Both sides agreed to enhance people-to-people contacts and promote direct engagement between traders, chambers of commerce, and business communities from both countries.

Durrani emphasized that increased trade and interpersonal exchanges could play a vital role in fostering peace and prosperity across the region.

The Acting Ambassador welcomed Durrani's proposals and praised his vision and dedication. 'We consider Pakistan our second home and are eager to boost bilateral trade,' Shafiev said. 'We fully support efforts to enhance cooperation in trade and other sectors for the mutual benefit of both nations,' he added.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to continued collaboration, and the Acting Ambassador presented a memento to Durrani as a token of goodwill.
