Islamabad: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Chairman JandK People's Freedom League and ex-Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJandK has strongly condemned and rejected a reference to the Jammu and Kashmir international dispute in a recent joint declaration of Indian and Afghani Taliban Foreign ministers at a Delhi press conference.
Muhammad farooq Rehmani castigated India for using the Taliban regime for their purpose in Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He questioned as to how the Taliban regime deviated from its earlier stand on the freedom and right of self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that numerous UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir bear witness to the unresolved dispute of Jammu and Kashmir which has to be settled by a free and an impartial plebiscite under the auspices of the United Nations.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that the Taliban regime should not ignore mutual shared views on the principles and resolutions of freedom and right of self-determination which were binding on all the states of the world. He reminded the Taliban Foreign Minister of India's ethnic cleansing of over one hundred thousand Kashmiris during the last 35 years by fake encounters, extra judicial killings and various other brutal methods adding to it besieging, dismembering and merging the illegally occupied state with India and trespassing on the fundamental rights of the people of the State , without any regard for the international humanitarian law and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions adopted during the early post 70 years of independence of Pakistan and India.
He also referred to the Independence Act 1947 that created two independent and sovereign states of Pakistan and India in South Asia, granting the State of Jammu and Kashmir and other autonomous princely states the right to self-determination and accession. He said Taliban as a supporter of the Kashmir resistance movement should not have touched the Kashmir dispute in the joint statement with the Indian FM in a negative way.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani expressed grave concern over the plight of the Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and sympathisers in the Tihar jail and other far flung Indian jails, where detainees were being subjected to maltreatment while courts were not free to release many sick detainees from their illegal incarceration. He urged on the international humanitarian organisations to take note of the plight of the Kashmiri political prisoners and ask India to allow them to visit the prison cells to confirm the onspot condition of the suffering prisoners of Jammu and Kashmir.
