Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif continued to personally monitor the cleanliness arrangements in small and big cities across Punjab on the three days of Eid-ul-Azha. Commissioners in every division, deputy commissioners in every district and assistant commissioners in every tehsil personally went out into the field to make cleanliness arrangements. They went door to door, checked and took feedback from the public. For the first time, the largest clean-up operation in the history was carried out in 10 regions, 41 districts and 146 tehsils of Punjab. Digital monitoring was carried out from the central control room established in the Punjab Safe City Authority. For the first time, collection points were set up and arrangements were made to collect waste in disposable bags from outside every house. On the direction of Madam Chief Minister, the clean-up operation in Punjab continued for all three days of Eid. In Lahore, the Lahore Waste Management Company collected more than 100% of the waste and disposed it of in a timely manner. The work of removing garbage, washing roads, streets and paths, spraying phenyl and rose water was successfully completed.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was briefed by the authorities concerned,"111,121 tons of garbage were collected and destroyed on the first day of Eid, 112,161 tons on the second day, and more than 10,000 tons on the third day of Eid." They added,"71,431 tons of garbage were collected from Lahore, 31,228 tons from Bahawalpur, 14,329 tons from DG Khan, 36,267 tons from Faisalabad, 21,422 from Gujranwala, 13,528 from Sialkot, and 29,020 tons of garbage were collected from Multan. Moreocer, 22,342 tons of garbage and dirt were collected from Rawalpindi, 15,299 from Sahiwal, and 25,727 tons were collected from Sargodha." They highlighted,"Roads, streets, and paths were washed, and phenyl and rose water were sprayed."

Madam Chief Minister was apprised,"One lakh 43 thousand 429 liters of phenyl, 30 thousand 563 liters of rose water and 29 lakh 87 thousand 268 kilograms of lime were sprayed." They added,"Out of 10 thousand 681 complaints received, 9 thousand 901 complaints were resolved." They underscored,"Punjab government distributed more than 1 crore 19 lakh 71 thousand free bags on Eid-ul-Adha, whereas one thousand 684 altars, 816 dump sites and 3970 union council camps were set up. In some areas, there were more than the estimated, and in some, there were less than the estimated contaminants.

People in every small and big city were delighted to see the timely cleanliness and kept praising Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and her team. Madam Chief Minister expressed satisfaction on receiving positive feedback on the cleanliness arrangements from across the province, and appreciated all the relevant stakeholders. She said,"I pay tribute to all the waste management companies, district administration, officers and staff of related institutions for meeting the standards of public service. Alhamdulillah, another milestone in the tradition of public service has been achieved."
