Transporters announce to increase fare by 5 percent more

Islamabad: Goods transport has further increased fare by 5 percent due to hike in the prices of petroleum products.

President All Pakistan Goods Transport Ittehad Malik Shahzad Awan has said the price of diesel has been enhanced by Rs 20 per liter and price of petrol by Rs 24 per liter during the last four days.

Earlier the prices of petrol and diesel were increased by Rs 23 per liter.

He said that government decision on changing the prices of petroleum products on daily basis is not acceptable.

During the strike from August 8 to 17, the petroleum minister had assured that the prices of petroleum products will not be changed on day to day basis.

He said transporters had postponed the country wide strike for 40 days on the assurances of provincial and federal governments.

If the agreements are not implemented by the government then transporters will stage country wide strike again.

He said provincial and federal governments had sought time for 40 days to settle the matters which is ending next week.
