Bejing: Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone call on Thursday, according to Chinese media outlet Xinhua.

Earlier this week, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that Trump and Xi would speak sometime this week, though no specific time was given.

The conversation comes a day after Trump described the Chinese President as 'tough' and 'extremely hard to make a deal with.'
