Khanpur: Two young men from Islamabad lost their lives after drowning in the deep waters of Khanpur Dam near the shrine of Sain Inayat Wali in the old Khanpur area.

According to reports, the victims had arrived with friends for a recreational trip and set up camp near the lake. Due to the intense heat, the young men entered the water for swimming, unaware of the depth and dangerous conditions of the lake.

The deceased were identified as Aijaz Ahmed and Moeed, both residents of Islamabad. They reportedly slipped into deep water while bathing and drowned.

Upon receiving information about the incident, rescue teams from Rescue 1122 and local residents rushed to the scene and launched an operation.

The bodies were recovered from the lake and shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Khanpur for legal formalities and post-mortem examination.

Police officials said that after completion of the post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to the families for burial arrangements.
