Islamabad: Unnecessary use of medicines has led to upsurge in diseases in the country.Disclosure has been made that 51 percent people use anti biotic medicines without prescription from doctor.According to health ministry authorities the disease like XDR Typhoid, MDR TB and others have surfaced in the wake of unnecessary use of medicines.Unabated use of anti biotic is major cause of antimicrobial resistance.National Health institute has started working on prevention of antimicrobial resistance. It has evolved a national action plan to control antimicrobial resistance.Health ministry has started consultation process with all stake holders. Steps are being taken for safe use of antibiotic medicines.
