Islamabad: The National Assembly witnessed noisy scenes during the budget debate on Sunday as treasury lawmakers interrupted the speech of the Opposition Leader, accusing him of deviating from budget-related matters.

According to parliamentary proceedings, government members repeatedly objected to the content of the Opposition Leader’s speech, arguing that he was discussing issues unrelated to the federal budget.

Treasury lawmakers maintained that the debate should remain focused on budgetary matters and urged the chair to direct the Opposition Leader to confine his remarks to the subject under discussion.

Government members continued raising slogans and objections during the speech, creating a charged atmosphere in the House.

As the exchange intensified, opposition women lawmakers also entered the debate, responding to criticism from treasury members and defending the Opposition Leader’s right to present his views.

The verbal confrontation between members from both sides of the aisle led to heightened tensions and intermittent disruptions during the proceedings.

Despite the uproar, the budget debate continued as lawmakers from the government and opposition benches exchanged criticism over parliamentary conduct and the scope of the discussion.
