Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan welcomes the historic peace agreement signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia at the White House Summit under the auspices of U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

PM said in a post of his X handle that this historic movement forward heralds in a new era for the South Caucasus which has remained victim to conflict and human suffering since decades.

This agreement brings message of peace, stability and cooperation.

The PM wrote we congratulate President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan on this historic agreement from the chore of our heart which is manifestation of his wisdom , foresight and sagacity to pave the way for peaceful future.

Pakistan has always sided with the brotherly nation of Azerbaijan and we stand shoulder to shoulder with them at this historic moment.

We laud the role of facilitator played by US president Donald Trump in getting the two sides closer and securing a result-oriented agreement.

This agreement will generate new opportunities for trade, connectivity, and regional integration.

He hoped this spirit of dialogue will serve as beacon light for such regions which are victim to protracted conflicts.
