Islamabad: The Women's Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) of the National Assembly of Pakistan convened its General Assembly today under the leadership of Secretary WPC, Dr. Shahida Rehmani, MNA.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Rehmani warmly welcomed the newly elected women Members of the National Assembly, congratulating them on their induction and highlighting the significance of their presence in strengthening women's voice in Pakistan's democratic processes. She emphasized that WPC is a bipartisan platform committed to collective action for gender justice, and invited new members to actively contribute to this shared mission.

As part of the session, new members were given a detailed presentation on the structure, functioning, and objectives of the WPC, orienting them on the platform's role in legislation, oversight, advocacy, and cross-institutional collaboration.

The General Assembly reviewed the progress made by the WPC during 2024-25, including:

- Strengthening provincial Women's Parliamentary Caucuses through inter-provincial learning exchanges

- Convening the National Women's Convention 2025 to unify voices across federal and provincial legislatures

- Advancing gender-responsive budgeting and oversight

- Enacting and advocating for gender-sensitive legislation and economic reforms

- Hosting Pakistan's first-ever Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians International Workshop

- Leading high-level consultations on inclusive political participation and digital democracy

The WPC reaffirmed its commitment to serve as a dynamic platform for promoting women's empowerment, inclusive governance, and cross-party collaboration for a more gender-equal Pakistan.
