Multan: Acting President of Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has directed the district administration in Multan to expedite the development projects and take all possible measures to overcome the hazard of smog.During a meeting, the Commissioner Multan, Aamir Karim Khan, briefed Acting President about the ongoing development projects in the Multan Division, public welfare initiatives, and administrative matters in detail.The Acting President appreciated the effective performance of the district administration and the Commissioner during the recent floods, stating that the timely relief operations and rehabilitation of the affected people reflected the administration's efficient strategy. Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan also acknowledged the tireless efforts and continuous engagement of Member National Assembly Syed Ali Qasim Gilani during the flood situation.Expressing concern over the prevailing smog, the Acting President directed that immediate and strict measures be taken to provide relief to the cit izens. He emphasized that all relevant departments must play an active and effective role in combating air pollution.Furthermore, the meeting also reviewed the condition of hospitals and the public health situation in the division. The Acting President directed that in view of the increasing dengue cases, hospital facilities must be improved, preventive measures enhanced, and timely treatment of patients ensured.The issues related to the construction work at the historically and spiritually significant Musa Pak Shrine also came under discussion. The Acting President directed the Commissioner to complete the pending work at the shrine at the earliest.Member National Assembly Syed Ali Qasim Gilani was also present on the occasion.Meanwhile Yusuf Raza Gillani visited Mahmood Group of Textile Mills in Multan Industrial Estate. During the visit, the head of the group, Khawaja Muhammad Anees, briefed him on the state-of-the-art machinery, production processes, labour welfare programs, and ongoing export ord ers. Khawaja Muhammad Anees informed the Acting President that Mahmood Group is producing world-class textile products and is adopting sustainable industrial practices through the use of modern technology. The Acting President appreciated the group's industrial contributions and its role in strengthening Pakistan's exports.A detailed discussion was also held on the overall situation of the textile sector, cotton production, and related agricultural matters. Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani stated that textiles form the backbone of Pakistan's exports, while cotton remains the foundation of the textile industry. He emphasized the need for improving seed quality, irrigation systems, and agricultural research. The Acting President added that supporting farmers and strengthening the agriculture sector would further boost the textile industry, which is vital for the national economy. He reiterated that the government is committed to providing all possible facilities and a conducive environment for the pr omotion of industry and trade.Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani lauded the Mahmood Group for its valuable services, noting that the private sector's contribution in enhancing exports and generating employment opportunities is commendable. Senior government officials, industrialists, and relevant authorities were also present during the visit.Meanwhile Yusuf Raza Gilani visited the residence of Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, to offer condolences on the demise of his esteemed mother.The Acting President offered Fateha and prayed for the departed soul. Expressing deep sorrow, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said that the loss of a mother is an immeasurable tragedy that cannot be expressed in words. He stated that a mother holds an unparalleled status, and her prayers are among life's greatest blessings. He added that he stands with the family in this moment of grief.While offering Fateha, the Acting President prayed to Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant stren gth to the bereaved ones to bear the loss.Members of the National Assembly Abdul Qadir Gilani, Syed Ali Qasim Gilani and former MPA Syed Ahmed Mujtaba Gilani were also present on the occasion.
