Cabinet division challenges ICP order for providing information to citizen about the gifted received by PM from other countries

ISLAMABAD: Cabinet division has challenged Information Commission of Pakistan (ICP) order in Islamabad High Court (IHC) for providing information to a citizen about gifts received by Prime Minister (PM) from other countries.

The court has issued notice to ICP on the request of cabinet division. Cabinet division declared classified the gifts received by Imran Khan in the capacity of PM.

According to cabinet division exchange of gifts between heads of the states is reflective of inter-state relations. Releasing details of such gifts will create media hype and foment unnecessary news. The baseless news will affect the relations with different countries and hurt the country’s prestige.

Assistant Attorney General (AAG) Attiq ur Rehman Siddiqui appeared in the court. Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb also issued notice to the citizen Ibrar Khalid besides PIC.
