Peshawar: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chairman Aftab Sherpao has said that country had never seen such price-hike and unemployment in its 74-year history.

Addressing a political gathering in Shabqadar tehsil in Charsadda, he said though the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had promised to create 10 million jobs, it had rendered five million people jobless thus far.

“About 17, 000 government employees have been sacked, ” he said, adding that food prices had reached the highest-ever mark.

Aftab Sherpao said his party rejected the formation of the proposed Pakistan Media Development Authority (PMDA), saying it was meant to snatch freedom from the journalists. He said the government wanted to muzzle the press as it could not tolerate criticism.

“The one making wild allegations against others could not even tolerate a couplet, ” he remarked.

Sherpao slammed the government for raising the prices of the petroleum products, saying the rulers were giving lame excuses for the POL tariff hike to fool the people.
