Court wants to give decision on cyber crime and FIA powers: CJ IHC

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed FIA to file detailed report in the court after making consultations with the stake holders in the case pertaining to misuse of powers by FIA.

The case related to misuse of powers by FIA under cyber crime act came up for hearing before IHC single bench led by the Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah Tuesday.

Additional Attorney General (AAG) Qasim Wadood and Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Syed Tayyab Shah appeared in the court.

Lawyer Iman Mazari, Usman Warraich and others appeared from the side of the petitions.

AAG Syed Tayyab Shah prayed the court more time be given for consultations with the stake holders.

CJ IHC remarked defamation cases of civil nature should go to district court. Work of national importance are assigned to FIA. FIA wastes its time in such matters. It should do its own job. It is not in the public interest that FIA should waste its time in the cases of civil nature. Court wants to give a decision on cyber crime and powers of FIA. Ambit of public office holders is different. Its principles are different. The court appreciates that FIA is continuing consultations with stake holders.

The court while summoning report adjourned the hearing of the case till December 08.
