European Union Water Operators Network selected WSC Mardan & Lahore for partnership program

Peshawar: European Union Water Operators Network has selected Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan and Water and Sanitation Agency Lahore for partnership program.

WSSCM and WASA Lahore applied jointly through the forum of Pakistan Water Operators Network for Budapest Water Works and both were approved after a tough international competition.

CEO WSSC Mardan Engineer Amir Khan said that selection of WSSCM for this international program is a great achievement and honour.

While giving details to media he said, that in January 2021 Europe Union funded Water Operators Partnership (WOP) program has launched a call for proposals in the field of water supply improvement.

Program is financed by Europe Union and implemented by Global Water Operator Partnership Alliance under UN Habitat.

Budapest Water Works, Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan along with Water and Sanitation Agency Lahore applied for this opportunity. He further added.

After passing through tough international competitive process, the project of partnership with Budapest Water Works, Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan and Water and Sanitation Agency Lahore was approved after a two stage selection process.

WSSCM, WASA Lahore and Budapest Water Works have been succeeded in getting Water Operators Europe Union Program funding approved by Global Water Operators’ Partnership Alliance (GWOPA).

Europe Union Water Operators program is aimed at contribution towards SDG-6.

With a focus on Non-revenue water, capacity building and community awareness raising. It is a 3 years program starting in September 2021.

The Project will usher in improvement of water supply system in Urban Union Councils of Mardan city.

He said only WSSCM and WASA Lahore have been selected from the South Asian region, which is an honour for the whole country and lauded the efforts of team WSSC Mardan under the guidance of Board of Directors.

Amir Khan said as a result of this partnership, WSSCM and WASA Lahore will work together with Budapest Water Works who will provide technical and capacity building support.

The program will also provide clean water supply and sanitation, technology awareness and exchange of experiences, ” He added.

Budapest Water Works will be the lead in achieving the sustainable development goals under the Global Water Operators Partnership Alliance.

WSSCM and WASA Lahore will also to improve their customer services, training, and IT system through this 3-year project.
