ISLAMABAD: Reacting to insulting the Election Commission (EC) by government minister in the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs PML-N has said it seems as if government is planning to carry out rigging in the next election by occupying the EC.

This was said by PML-N leaders Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal, Maryam Aurqangzeb and Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry in a hurriedly called meeting in Islamabad on Friday.

Khaqan Abbasi said this government has made the election controversial. It is endeavor of the government to pressurize EC. The strange laws are elected in the name of electoral reforms. Such laws are enacted which helps them to restrict the constitutional status of EC.

Election is major problem in the country today, he held. Such laws are being brought daily which run contrary to the constitution, he added.

Preparations are underway to get pass these laws from Senate after National Assembly, he underlined.

He remarked that it is being endeavored fully here that next election is held under government rather than EC. We reject such steps.
