PM Imran Khan says protection of life & property of people primary responsibility of govt

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan says the protection of life and property of the people is the primary responsibility of the government.

He was presiding a meeting of the concerned officers of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication in Islamabad on Monday to get update on the establishment of Universal Pakistan Emergency Helpline 911.

The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to remove all obstacles in the commencement of service as soon as possible to curb crime in the country.

The Prime Minister was informed that all necessary work including inter-provincial liaison has been completed and the helpline will be ready for regular opening by the first week of October this year.

The Prime Minister hoped the launch of this helpline would help ensure peace and security in the country by enabling timely action against crime.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Imran Khan says construction of water reservoirs will not only fulfil water needs but also ensure provision of affordable electricity to meet energy requirements of the country.

Talking to Chairman Water and Power Development Authority Lt.General (retd) Muzammil Hussain, who called on him in Islamabad on Monday, the Prime Minister directed to take necessary steps to complete the construction work of new dams within the stipulated time.

The Chairman WAPDA apprised Imran Khan about the progress in the construction work on the continuing big dams under Prime Minister’s vision of Decade of Dams.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to finalize the new SME policy to provide incentives and facilities to small business owners under the government’s Ease of Business Policy.

Chairing a review meeting on the promotion of small and medium businesses, in Islamabad on Monday, the Prime Minister said small industries have been neglected in the past while our government is focused on providing facilities to them.

The meeting was informed that small and medium enterprises account for 40 percent of the total GDP of Pakistan.

It was apprised that Loans will be provided to small and medium enterprises under the supervision of State Bank of Pakistan and special attention is being paid to the business related to the information technology sector.It was also informed that all stakeholders have been consulted in detail so that there is no loopholes in the policy.
