Police constable killed in rival group firing

Mardan: A police constable was killed when two rival groups traded gunfire in limits of Chura police station, police and local sources said on Friday

The sources added that information were received to police that dispute were continued between two groups at Gujrat village in the limits of Chura police station. Sources added that a police party of Chora police station reached the spot where accused Amin son of Yaqub resident of Mohallah Agawanan Gujrat opened fire, as a result Constable Shehzad Khan was injured.

He was shifted to Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) where he succumbed to his injuries. Later on funeral prayers of martyred constable Shehzad Khan were offered at the police line. A well-armed contingent of Mardan police saluted the martyr.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Mardan range Yaseen Farooq, Deputy Commissioner Habibullah Arif, District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Zahidullah Khan , former District Nazim Hamitaullah Mayar and other police officers attended the funeral prayers in large numbers. The officials laid flowers on the body of the martyr and prayed for him.

Later on, funeral prayers of the deceased was also offered at his village Chargali Rustam. Large numbers of people attended his funeral prayers and he was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard. Police registered case against the accused.
