PPP wants NSP before parliament

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Saturday demanded government to present National Security Policy (NSP) before the Parliament.

PPP Secretary General Syed Nayyar Bukhari said in a statement that PPP values national security more than anything. “Parliament should be taken into confidence on national issues like National Security Policy” he said, according to the statement.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday launched the public version of the country’s first-ever National Security Policy 2022-2026.

The premier, addressing the launch ceremony of the policy in the Federal Capital, said the country is now headed in the right direction.

The policy, which was earlier approved by the National Security Committee (NSC), emphasizes a geo-economic vision to supplement the focus on geo-strategy and highlights that the foremost aim of Pakistan’s foreign policy and military capability was peace and stability in the region and beyond, based on mutual respect and sovereign equality.

PPP Secretary General said that country’s security is linked to economic stability. Nation knows that Benazir Bhutto Shaheed equipped the country with nuclear missile technology to ensure national security.

He said that only economic security is the lifeblood of national security. It is possible to deal with all threats with a unified national strategy.
