Provision of affordable houses to poor people was a promised which is being materialized: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan said that provision of affordable houses to poor segments of society was his promised which is being materialized through modern real estate projects.

He said it is the first time in the history of Pakistan that as many as 12,400 low price flats for the residents of slum areas are being constructed in Islamabad.

He shared these views during the National Coordination Committee on Housing, Construction and Development in Islamabad on Thursday.

It was informed in the meeting that CDA and Naia Pakistan Housing Authority will provided subsidiary flats to the slum areas residents at minimum installment rates.

It was decided in the meeting that an international standard cricket stadium will be constructed in Islamabad, besides commercial buildings would be constructed under public-private venture. The meeting was told that Rs38 billion loans have been given to people on merit to people for construction of their own houses. In the last two weeks, as many as Rs6 billion loan application have been received.

Imran Khan directed the relevant authorities to draw boundaries of the cities so that unplanned expansion of the cities can be stopped.

He said these projects will not only create job opportunities but also fulfill the needs of a growing urban population.
