SC orders to hold investigation into delay in the restoration of local governments

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) while ordering investigation into delay in restoration of local governments has sought certified copies of Lahore High Court (LHC) orders in the case pertaining to restoration of local government system.

A two members bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmad took up the case for hearing Wednesday.

Raising the question over delay in the restoration of local governments despite court orders, the CJP has directed to file the verified copies of LHC decision and the written replies filed by Punjab government and written replies filed with regard to the government orders.

The CJP also directed chief secretary Punjab, former chief secretary Punjab and secretary local government to appear before it in person on next hearing

The court adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks.
