SC upholds PHC decision on paying monthly stipend to house job doctors of private medical colleges equal to government colleges

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) while upholding the decision of Peshawar High Court (PHC) decision about monthly stipend of house job doctors of private medical colleges in KP rejected the petition filed by Private Medical Colleges (PMC).

The court ordered to pay monthly stipends of house job doctors of private medical colleges of KP equal to government colleges.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmad took up for hearing the petition filed against PHC decision on paying the monthly stipend equal to the doctors of government colleges.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked that in PMC act the private colleges have been asked to pay monthly stipend equal to government colleges. The private medical colleges receive fee Rs 10 lac each but they avoid to pay the monthly stipends to the doctors.

He further remarked the private medical colleges will not be allowed to exploit the house job doctors. What is wrong with private medical colleges in paying Rs 46000 in stead of Rs 43000 monthly stipend . Under PMC rules it is incumbent on all medical colleges to set up their hospital and make payment of monthly stipend.

The court while ordering the KP Private medical colleges to pay monthly stipend to house job doctors equal to government colleges wrapped up the case.
