Sheri Rehman lashes out at government for increased trade deficit

Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Vice President Senator Sherri Rehman, while expressing concern over the growing trade deficit, said that the PTI government had set another record of failure, with a trade deficit of 24 24.79 billion in the first six months of the financial year.

In a statement on Tuesday, PPP vice president said that country’s exports have declined by more than 14 billion dollars, imports have risen by 63% to 39 39.91 billion dollars.

The PPP senator said the rupee will depreciate further, and the country’s trade deficit’s 100 percent increase in just six months was alarming.

She said that wheat and sugar were exported and the imported, and country’s accountability agencies remained silent on this. Sherry Rehman said that on one hand trade deficit is increasing. Failed experiments should stop now, she concluded.
