Shibli accepts Pakistan’s zero progress in Science

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Science and technology Shibli Faraz on Wednesday admitted that Pakistan was lagging behind in Science and technology and said that ‘we developed atomic bomb but couldn’t use scientific knowledge to uplift living standards of people.”

Addressing a ceremony in line with World Science Day, the minister said that state would ensure progress in scientific advancement if it wanted to create ease for masses. “We need to think about Science. Why we are lagging behind in the field of science and technology” Shibli said.

The minister said that humans must be benefitted with help of scientific and technological advancement. Many researches have been done but haven’t been converted into practical results, he regretted.

Shibli Faraz said that scientific approach was missing in Pakistan’s academia and industry. “The latest example is Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) which was not accepted by majority” he regretted, adding that opposition was afraid of induction of technology in electoral system.
