Violence against participants of proscribed TLP March: IHC gives 2 weeks time to federation, PEMRA to file reply

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given two weeks time to federation and PEMRA to file reply on petition filed by Shuhada Foundation.

The petition has been filed on violence against participants of proscribed outfit TLP March and ban imposed on media coverage of the March.

The petition came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by Justice Amir Farooq Wednesday.

The court issued a written order on Shuhada Foundation petition during the hearing of the case.

The court order said Deputy Attorney General (DAG) on behalf of the federation had sought time to file report. PEMRA also had sought more time to file reply.

The court had issued notice to interior secretary and chairman NEPRA for filing reply.

It was requested in the petition that judicial commission be constituted to probe into the violence by the law enforcement agencies. Proscribed TLP demonstration is peaceful. The deaths took place due to unnecessary use of force on the protest MARCH . It is responsibility of federal government to pay diyat to the victims as per law.

According to the counsel PEMRA has banned coverage of the protest March.

Federation through interior secretary, Prime Minister through principal secretary, interior minister and chairman PEMRA have been made respondents.
