Court summons Shahbaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz for indictment in money laundering case

LAHORE: The court has summoned Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz on next hearing for indictment in Money laundering case.

Money laundering case filed by FIA came up for hearing before Judge Ijaz Awan of Special Central Court (SCC) Saturday.

Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz did not appear in the court.

The counsel said Hamza Shahbaz is suffering from severe back pain. Shahbaz Sharif could not come due to poor weather while the doctors have advised him not to travel by road.

FIA Prosecutor said there is objection over exemption plea of Hamza Shahbaz but there is no objection over the exemption plea of Shahbaz Sharif. The accused has stopped appearing in the court following acceptance of his bail plea.

FIA filed the death certificate of Maqsood peon.

The court abolished the proceeding of the case to the extent of Malik Maqsood.

FIA prosecutor told the court bank record of 19 accounts of Shahbaz Sharif has become available and record of 7 bank accounts has yet to come.

The record in respect of such properties which has become available has been submitted.

The court while adjourning the hearing of the case till September 7 accepted exemption pleas of Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz.

The court summoned both the accused persons for their indictment on next hearing.

More rain-wind and thundershower expected in Punjab, Islamabad, KP and other parts of country

ISLAMABAD: The Met Office has forecast more rain-wind and thundershower in Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north and eastern Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. during the next twelve hours.

However, isolated heavy falls are likely in Kashmir, upper Punjab, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and north Balochistan.

Temperature of some major cities recorded this morning: Islamabad and Peshawar twenty-five degree centigrade, Lahore twenty-six, Karachi and Gilgit twenty-seven, Quetta twenty-one, Murree seventeen and Muzaffarabad twenty-three degree centigrade. According to Met Office forecast for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, cloudy weather with chances of rain-wind-thundershower is expected in Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian and Baramula.

606 tested positive, 3 casualties reported due to corona virus during last 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: 606 persons were infected with COVID-19 and 3 fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours in the country.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) latest statistics revealed 19236 tests were conducted during the last 24 hours of which 606 returned positive taking the total number of positive cases to 1,553,930.

The positivity ratio stands at 3.15 percent.

With 3 fatalities during the last 24 hours the tally of fatalities has ascended to the mark of 30486.

PM reiterates to eradicate Polio from country

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen fruitful partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in all ongoing areas of cooperation.

He expressed these views in a telephonic conversation with Bill Gates, the Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in which they discussed the ongoing public health, including polio eradication and social sector programs supported by the Foundation in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister appreciated the valuable support extended by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to Pakistan in polio eradication and improving immunization, nutrition and financial inclusion in the country.

Expressing grave concern on the recent increase in the number of confirmed cases of polio virus in Pakistan this year, he said the government is committed to eradicate polio from the country.

The Prime Minister said the government is also focused on strengthening operations at all levels of the polio eradication program and empowering districts to make decisions based on specific needs of their areas.

He said providing safety and security to all members of the polio program, especially the frontline workers, would be his government’s high priority.

Bill Gates reiterated the Foundation’s continued support to Pakistan to protect them from the risk of paralysis due to polio virus.
