27th constitutional amendment approved in NA

Islamabad: 27th constitutional amendment has been approved in National Assembly (NA) with two thirds majority of 231 votes.

Speaking in the house PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly condemned the recent terrorism incidents in the country saying the government and opposition members should unite against the terrorism despite ideological differences.

He further said PPP and PML-N took steps for establishment of constitutional court and fulfillment of the pledges made in charter of democracy.

The provinces will have equal representation in constitutional court and clear restriction will come on the suo motu notice of judges.

Law minister Nazir Tarar said constitutional amendment are an evolutionary process.

He said Justice Yahya Afridi will remain Chief Justice of Pakistan.

PTI and other opposition parties continued protest.

Opposition termed the amendment as attack on constitution and judiciary.

Security personnel remained deployed around speaker dais.
