Islamabad: The Sixth Session of the Pakistan-Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) for Economic, Trade, and Technical Cooperation concluded successfully in Islamabad on October 22-23, 2025. The session was held under the framework of the bilateral Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation.
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Qatar's Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani led their respective delegations and signed a protocol formalizing commitments across multiple sectors.
The discussions reaffirmed both nations' determination to enhance trade, investment, and technical collaboration, leveraging their strong fraternal ties. The protocol includes Qatar's reaffirmed commitment to invest USD 3 billion in Pakistan through the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and highlights coordination between the QIA and Pakistan's Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to streamline investment processes.
The session also focused on cooperation in transport, civil aviation, health, education, culture, media, labor, and information technology. Both sides agreed to deepen collaboration in green transport technologies, TVET partnerships, healthcare exchanges, and digital economy initiatives.
In media and cultural collaboration, fast-track visa systems, a 'Year of Culture' program, and news cooperation between the Qatar News Agency (QNA) and the Associated Press of Pakistan were finalized.
The delegations expressed satisfaction over the outcomes and emphasized ensuring practical implementation of the JMC decisions. The next (Seventh) session of the Commission will be held in 2026, with dates to be finalized through diplomatic channels.
