6th’s martyrdom day of Maryam Mukhtar will be celebrated on 24 November

Jahanian: The 6th martyrdom day of Pakistan air force’s first female fighter pilot Maryam Mukhtar will be celebrated on Wednesday, 24 November.

Maryam Mukhtar was born in Karachi on 18 May, 1992. Marium, after receiving her initial education from Karachi, graduated as a fighter pilot in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in 2007.

On May 6, 2011, she joined the Pakistan Air Force in the 132 GD Pilot course.

Marium Mukhtiar graduated as a fighter pilot in the Pakistan Air Force in 2014, along with six other women in the 132 GD(P) course.

Before joining PAF, she was enrolled in Electrical Engineering at NED University.

Marium became the first Pakistani female Air Force pilot to embraced martyrdom. Pakistani Flying Officer Marium Mukhtiar was flying a training mission on a FT 7PG aircraft with Squadron Leader Saqib Abbasi when encountered a serious in-flight emergency on November 24, 2015.

As a result, an ill-fated accident took place in Kundian, Mianwali district about 175 kilometers (109 miles) southwest of Islamabad.

The Pakistan Senate Standing Committee on Defence (SSCD) recommended Marium Mukhtiar for a state award.

She was awarded the military award Tamgha-e-Basalat by the Government of Pakistan.
