Acquittal plea of convict in murder case of sister of journalists rejected

Rawalpindi: A division bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench has dismissed acquittal plea of person convicted in the case of murdering sister and injuring their 3 family members including their mother of senior journalist Khurram Hashmi and Zain Hashmi member of governing body of National Press Club.

The court while declaring the arguments given by counsel of the petitioner insufficient dismissed the appeal plea.

The petitioner Munir Alam entered into home on Eidul Azha day two years earlier and opened firing over a family dispute killing sister of Hashmi brothers and injuring their mother, another sister and brother.

The subordinate court had awarded life imprisonment in murder case and jail term and fine under other clauses.

The accused while challenging decision of subordinate court had filed acquittal plea.

Qazi Waqar Hussain and Chaudhry Ashraf Gujjar advocate contested case of the petitioner.

Prosecution counsel took the plea the petitioner committed heinous crime of murder and due to his firing mother, brother and two sisters of plaintiff were injured. Mother and sisters are still not able to move and their treatment is continuing. Acquitting the convict in this situation is against the norms of justice.

Upon it division bench dismissed the appeal plea of the accused , upheld the subordinate court decision and ordered to implement the sentences one by one.
