Lahore: The Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan and the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW) jointly organised a special media talk titled 'Voice of Conscience' at the Alkhidmat Complex in connection with World Humanitarian Day.Alkhidmat Central Vice President Syed Ehsanullah Waqas, Senior Manager Media Relations Shoaib Hashmi, Senior Manager International Affairs Department Ahmad Toor and other officials also attended the event.Speaking on the occasion, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Secretary General Syed Waqas Jafri said millions of innocent civilians in Gaza were facing a severe humanitarian crisis, where ensuring the uninterrupted and safe supply of food, medicines and clean water was the fundamental responsibility of the international community. He said humanitarian assistance was a universal right, irrespective of political, religious or ethnic affiliations. Under the campaign being conducted in collaboration with UNIW, he stressed that the entry of 600 aid trucks into Gaza daily, as stipulated in t he announced ceasefire agreement, should be ensured and safe humanitarian corridors must remain operational.Syed Waqas Jafri said the purpose of the 'Voice of Conscience' campaign on World Humanitarian Day was not to support any political or religious group, but to promote humanitarian principles, neutrality and non-discriminatory service. Referring to Alkhidmat's relief activities during floods in Pakistan and the devastating earthquakes in Trkiye and Syria, he said timely access to affected communities could save lives.On the occasion, Alkhidmat Central Vice President Syed Ihsanullah Waqas paid tribute to the spirit and sacrifices of Alkhidmat workers and volunteers around the world who continued to serve humanity despite risks to their own safety. He said Alkhidmat and UNIW stood with vulnerable communities in times of crisis and called upon the international community to provide humanitarian organisations and their volunteers with a safe and enabling environment in crisis-hit areas so that no one was deprived of basic necessities.
