Alkhidmat Foundation will sacrifice 8,000 animals for Gaza affectees: Prof. Dr. Hafeezur Rehman

Lahore: President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman on Saturday announced that the organisation would sacrifice 13,000 animals this year under its 'Qurbani Fi Sabeelillah' project for underprivileged families in Pakistan and victims of the Gaza conflict. He said Alkhidmat Foundation will sacrifice 8,000 animals for Gaza affectees.Addressing a media briefing at the organisation's central office alongside Vice President Zikrullah Mujahid, Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman said the foundation would spend Rs2.325 billion on the project, benefiting more than 500,000 families, including orphans, widows, deserving households and war-affected people in Gaza.He said Alkhidmat would arrange Qurbani in Egypt, Lebanon, Jerusalem, Gaza and Pakistan through an international humanitarian network to provide meat to affected Palestinian families during Eid al-Adha.According to him, over Rs1.035bn has been allocated specifically for Gaza-related sacrificial activities. Under a special arrangement, 100 cows would be slaughtered in Egypt and the fresh meat would be transported to war-hit areas of Gaza within a week through refrigerated chillers.He added that another 500 cows in Egypt and 300 cows in Pakistan would be sacrificed and their meat preserved in ready-to-eat tin packs before being dispatched to Gaza through special relief flights.Dr Hafeez said he would personally spend Eid al-Azha in Egypt with Palestinian families, where an Eid gathering would also be arranged for them. Palestinian students studying in Pakistan would likewise participate in Eid events to be held in the presence of diplomats and philanthropists.Referring to last year's campaign, he said that in 2025 the organisation had sacrificed more than 1,600 cows worth Rs700 million, and the meat had continued to reach Gaza victims throughout the year.Speaking on domestic arrangements, Zikrullah Mujahid said a total of 13,000 animals - including 7,500 large and 5,500 small animals, would be sacrificed across Pakistan this year.H e said modern slaughterhouses in Karachi, Lahore, and other major cities had been engaged to ensure hygienic slaughtering and packaging of meat for widows, orphans, and deserving families. Cold-chain supply systems and refrigerated trucks would also be used to transport meat to remote areas while maintaining freshness.Zikrullah Mujahid said a dedicated software had been developed to ensure transparency in the entire process, from booking to donor reporting. Volunteers and monitoring committees across all four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan would supervise the campaign.He also announced the launch of Alkhidmat's hides collection drive, saying proceeds from sacrificial hides would support the organisation's welfare projects in different parts of the country.The Alkhidmat leadership thanked overseas Pakistanis and philanthropists for their continued support, saying their contributions enabled the organisation to bring relief and happiness to millions of deserving people every year.
